How the Panama (2-2-3) pattern works
The Panama schedule, often called 2-2-3, repeats every 14 days: work 2, off 2, work 3, off 2, work 2, off 3. Every other weekend is a three-day weekend off. Here crews A and B cover day shifts (seven days apart) and crews C and D cover nights the same way. Many workplaces use the names Panama, 2-2-3 and Pitman for slightly different versions, so compare the first two weeks with your own roster.
Cycle for crew A: DDOODDDOODDOOO (D = day, N = night, F = 24-hour shift, O = off).
